Deer Park

Deer Park is centred on the intersection of Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue. Often lumped into the Rosedale-Moore Park and/or Yonge-St.Clair neighbourhood profiles.

The name of the neighbourhood dates back to 1837. The Heath family purchased 40 acres of land on the northwest corner of Yonge and St. Clair and named it Deer Park. By the 1850s the neighbourhood included a racetrack, a school, and a hotel at which patrons could feed deer which roamed the Heaths' property. Deer Park is also home to one of Toronto's oldest cemeteries.

Jimmy Molloy was born in Toronto and received a B.A. in history and economics at the University of Toronto.
